2021 // public art installation
THANK YOU for shopping with us offered passersby an opportunity to consider the line between items we cherish and those we discard. this collaborative installation between katie beach and lisa waud was created within a commitment to not purchase any new materials, spotlighting faux flowers sourced from detroit resale stores that have been used in previous projects and ubiquitous plastic shopping bags.
presented in the windows of agency art chicago, 3801 w montrose, TYFSWU was viewed from the sidewalk or street, giving viewers an infusion of color in the muted shades of autumn. for those who paused to reflect, the installation offers consideration of one's consumptive habits and the permanence of the items obtained.
