for one week in october 2016, floral designers and enthusiasts to learned + connected in the spirit of #flowerhousedetroit through lectures, workshops, conversations + meals.
in 2015, during the flower house project, florists from across the us and canada came together in a floral installation collaboration never previously experienced. detroit flower week aims to recreate the spirit of the project.
from flower house and detroit flower week founder, lisa waud: "during the installation and exhibition of flower house, there wasn't much time to get to know all the extraordinary designers and volunteers because we were so busy filling the house with flowers! my goal with detroit flower week was to bring everyone together again, but with more time to inspire one another…
during the symposium, attendees experienced an amazing week of educational presentations, inspiring conversations, and hands-on workshops by nineteen internationally-acclaimed designers, tastemakers, and disrupters in the floral design world. the week’s events culminated in a dinner celebrating creativity and sustainability in flowers and food, set beneath a mind-blowing floral installation created by designer joseph massie in the detroit public library.
